It was a tough night for the Lady Tigers as they hosted the Oswego buccaneers. The game was back-and-forth all night and both teams had opportunities to take the lead. Junior Maude Terwilliger created some chances up top with her speed and physical play. Valerosa Gambitta helped control Oswego’s offensive attacks by making some strong tackles and looked to get the ball back up the field. Mackenna Bulger did a nice job staying composed in the back and was able to step forward to thwarts some attacks as well. Once again, Lauren Mott came up with some big saves throughout the night giving her a total of 13 saves. Lilly Call tried to work the ball quickly up the field, but Cortland simply could not finish the ball in the final third. Sarah Williams and Campbell Bush helped send in the ball in from the outsides of the field, but cortland was unable to capitalize. Cortland had a few good chances when the goalie was at a position, but was found either to be offsides or unable to get a clean strike on the ball. Claire turner worked desperately to get the ball by checking and trying to turn with it. Lily Yang helped us out in back and won some important balls in the air. As the clock was winding down, both Oswego and Cortland had strong opportunities to end the game in regular time and the first overtime period. Unfortunate for the Tigers, it was Oswego who ended the game after they collected a 50-50 ball and shot it low and hard to the bottom left corner of the goal. Cortland now will set their focus on earning their first win of the season on Friday at Henniger high school at 6:30. We’re hoping to see the girls improve their ability to switch the point of attack and finishing.--
