Great first game for both programs in the first round of the Fabius-Pompey tournament. Homer controlled the ball and had great scoring opportunites squashed by Hannibal goalie, Sophia Salladin. Catherine Apker was able to find the back of the net on a breakaway partway through the first half. Cammy Cole, Elena Barrett also had solid opportunities and played lock down in the defensive end. Taryn Quinn, Caitlin McCloy, Izzy Small, and Morgan Robideau played solid defense as well against a grinding Hannibal attack in Lena Turaj, Emileah Morgan, and Harley Somers. Homer goalie Alex Kellaway had 8 saves and the shutout. Reese Kline was strong in the midfield in her Varsity debut, as well as great efforts by Jane Gugerty, Bre Romans, Catelyn Ensign, Regan Gilfilian and Sandra Roberts. Both teams look to recover for their games tomorrow in the tournament play.
