In a battle among Yale Cup League I contenders, the Presidents fell just short to the Sparks, 66-61. Iprep got off to a great start, outscoring the Sparks 21-11 in the first and holding onto a 6 point lead by half-time. The Sparks came out with lightning and thunder in the third and built up a ten point lead. Iprep was not finished, however, narrowing the gap in the final minutes and looking to tie things up, as senior Omarion Arroyo scored 9 critical points in the fourth quarter comeback. Arroyo finished with a double double, scoring 13 points and pulling in 11 rebounds, while dishing out 2 assists and making a steal. Senior guard Versi Hawkins was the top scorer for Iprep with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, and Angel Serrano and Biel Douth both scored 11 for the Presidents. Douth had a double double for Iprep with 11 points and 12 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Serrano had 8 assists and 3 rebounds in the contest. Juniors Emir Lindsay and Jaydan Daniels scored 9 points and 2 points respectively. Iprep will round out the regular season against Middle Early College on Thursday, February 16th.
