@ Central Square: The 4 seed Central Square Redhawks (15-6) were upset at home tonight to 5th seed ESM (10-11) 53-47. Ending their season and hope for back to back Section titles. Behind arguably one of the best players in the state senior Aniyah Jones 23 pnts and double digit scoring from Sonia Benhassen 15pnts and Isabella Krolls 11pnts including 3 from 3pnt land. Central Square got a huge game from senior Payton St Clair’s 26pnts but had arguably their worst shooting performance all season at the worst time possible. Square got points from Emily Waldron , Hannah Waldron and Tay Adams but minimal shots from 3 pnt land, one of Squares strong points. It’s tough to beat a team 3X’s and tonight was proof of that. The Redhawks mounted a comeback from down 12 to take the lead late but it was Benhassen’s step back 3 to give ESM a 1 pnt lead was the dagger they needed to take down the Redhawks. Next up for ESM Tuesday @ Phoenix vs 1 seed West Genny. C. Square’s season ends.
